Inheritance

I really enjoyed adaptation, which is why I immediately started reading the second one after I finished, but sadly this was quite a let down and made me wish I had just stayed with he first one. 90% of the book is spend on questions of gender and trying to explain why the aliens look like humans but also why they don't have our sense of gender and it was just too much at times. I enjoyed the mystery of it all in the first one and wanted to see more of the government conspiracy. But this book was mostly occupied with the blossoming (and in my opinion mostly annoying) romance between Reese and David. The slight love angle with Amber also got on my nerves (I actually quite enjoyed Reese and Amber as a couple in the first book and I don't really think she and David have any chemistry, but that's just my personal opinion). I'm still super happy about a bisexual protagonist and I did enjoy that whole storyline about her coming to terms with her sexuality, but I wasn't a fan of how the whole romance/love angle situation was resolved. In my opinion it just went back to stereotype about bisexuality that I'm definitely not a fan of. If you loved the first book and are thinking about getting this one, I wouldn't recommend it. It moves way to slow but then picks up speed in the end and everything happens in the last 20 pages. Not a fan of it, even though I loved the first one.

So this was pretty amazing. I never would've guessed the direction of this book. The plot is fast-paced and made it hard for me to put it down to get some sleep. The characters are all super diverse and this adds so much to the story! Also love the focus on the differences of cultures and the whole concept of "susum'urda". I'm not good with reviews, go read it! :D (But start with Adaptation)
