Beschreibung

When Shay Zucconi's step-grandmother died, she left Shay a tulip farm-under two conditions.

First, Shay has to move home to the small town of Friendship, Rhode Island. Second-and most problematic since her fiancé just called off the wedding-Shay must be married within one year.

Marriage is the last thing in the world Shay wants but she'll do anything to save the only real home she's ever known.

Noah Barden loved Shay Zucconi back in high school. Not that he ever told her. He was too shy, too awkward, too painfully uncool to ask out the beautiful, popular girl.

A lifetime later, Noah is a single dad to his niece and has his hands full running the family business. That old crush is the farthest thing from his mind.

Until Shay returns to their hometown and turns his life upside down.

CW/TW: absentee parent(s), brief mention of parent death, brief mention of parent chronic illness, mention of incarceration, mention of temporary foster care placement, reference to teenage teasing/bullying (not detailed, not explicit), brief incidence of fat-shaming, living with a neurodivergent child

I really liked the story and how everything falls into place. I was looking for a nice love story and wasn’t disappointed. Gennie is THE cutest and the way Noah cares for his loved ones makes my heart melt. Long story short, i'm omw to buy beaded earrings and to stroll through farmers markets.

3.5

I liked the book it gave me the feeling of typical romance movies. It gets 3,5 stars from me :)

I liked the characters, they were loveable. Especially Gennie was well written, she had me laughing and being shocked sometimes haha, it's rare that children in books, especially in romance books, get so much personality and uniqueness (without her it would be maybe a 3). I'm a big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean too, so I liked her pirate obsession a lot. I love that Shay is curvy FMC, has such a good way with kids and is a teacher, she's a sweetie and I love that she wears this crazy earrings, that makes her more unique and that she has such a character development journey in this book. And I like that Noah is a grumpy overprotective kinda shy gentleman. What I didn't like was that his appearance change was just explained with growing up, real world doesn't work like that And the book was a little bit too long (got bored along the way, did a reading pause), but all in all it was a great book.
