Ich habe irgendwie mehr erwartet.
Ja, die Geschichte hat einige schöne Momente, ansprechende Zeilen. Allerdings kann ich dem was hinten auf dem Buch steht ("The funniest, saddest, most romantic book on earth.") nicht wirklich zustimmen. Es war nett zu lesen, keine Frage, aber emotional hat es mich nicht werden lassen und lustig fand ich es auch nicht. 🙈 Vielleicht waren meine Erwartungen auch zu hoch, so ging es mir damals auch mit You've reached Sam. Ich mochte jedoch die Momente zwischen Evan und seinem kleinen Bruder Will. Die Beziehung zwischen Evan und Shosh konnte ich hingegen nicht so fassen. Mein Verstand weiß, was die Rückblenden darstellen sollten, aber meinem Herzen war es recht egal. 😅 Insgesamt ganz nett für zwischendurch, aber kommt nicht an meine Erwartungen dran.
I was expecting light reading, this was heavy.
I bought the book because it was recommended to me, and on black friday I was able to buy it for 7€. The story and the idea seemed interesting enough. Soulmates across different timelines are always an intriguing thing. What I was expecting was something lighter than this though. Shosh and Evan had their own little battles that were not little at all. And as much as I love that it talks about the mental topics, it felt too much. Then I sometimes wasn't sure if things written were being spoken aloud or thought of. Then someone would answer back. Like, really? It was a good read, but I bet I will forget about this story soon enough.
Music connecting lost souls and young adults trying to find their way.
Hits me in the feels and now I need time to recover. All the storylines seemed to work out perfectly for everyone, which is not like real life but I guess that's what fiction is for.

beendet und massiv enttäuscht - "das lustigste, traurigste, romantischste buch auf erden" - ich fands langweilig, verwirrend und ehrlich gesagt etwas lieblos. die idee hätte soviel potential gehabt imo. schade
i just finished and so i am writing this review with tears in my eyes. this book is a lyrical story about two young people that both have lived through a terrible loss in their lives. they don’t know each other yet but they hear the same song no one else can hear except for them. the story takes us through time, highlighting how each of them is struggling with grief in their own way and being on the cusp of adulthood. a book about soulmates that was beautifully written and so touching that i might just read it all over again immediately. i think the best books are the books that you’ll continue to carry in your heart and mind with you everywhere you go and this might be one of those for me. a real and yet magical story. “and sometimes—on occasion—she wondered if she'd missed her chance at love.” “please say you see the value of us, not just what we might become.” “and the feeling of his being, of his body against hers, became again both ancient and new, and how to explain that for as much as she would miss him, it was nothing compared to how much she already had missed him?”

Was soll ich zu diesem Buch sagen, außer das es ganz anders war als ich erwartet habe? Erwartet habe ich ein süßes, humorvolles Jugendbuch. Bekommen habe ich so viel mehr! Dieses Buch ist voll voller Poesie, Tiefgründigkeit und Seelenverwandschaft. Voller was wäre wenn’s, voller Träume, Ängst und Verluste. Dazwischen zwei Teenies, die sich nicht gesucht, dafür aber gefunden haben ohne anfangs zu merken, wie sehr sie sich gebraucht haben. Der Schreibstil des Autors war modern, poetisch, humorvoll und unglaublich toll zu lesen. In diesem Buch haben wir zwei POVs und auch ab und an eine dritte, die immer zu einer anderen Zeit spielt, mit unterschiedlichen Charakteren. Eine große Rolle spielt hier auch die Musik, inwiefern diese sich auswirkt möchte ich nicht erzählen, denn das würde dem Buch so ziemlich alles vorweg nehmen. In I loved you in another Life geht es außerdem auch um Trauerbewältigung und Verlust und zwei ganz unterschiedlichen Aspekten. Beides wurde richtig gut umgesetzt und hat mir doch schon das ein oder andere Tränchen abgerungen. Ich möchte allgemein nicht zu viel vorweg nehmen, denn ich finde, je weniger man hier weiß um so besser. Dieses Buch ist meiner Meinung nach wie eine Reise und Reisen sind bekanntlich um so schöner, wenn man noch nicht alles darüber weiß. Eins kann ich euch allerdings verraten, dieses Buch hatte alles was ich an Büchern liebe. Tolle Protagonist*innen und Side Charaktere, Found Family, Tiefe und unglaublich viel Poesie zwischen den Zeilen. Dieses Buch hat mir so viel gegeben ohne das ich wusste, dass ich danach gesucht habe. Für mich ist I loved you in another life ein absolutes Highlight geworden!
