This was the first novel by Nesbø I have read and my first by a skandinavian author in general. Along with its interesting character dynamics, it immediately caught my attention, but still has so many plot holes that I sometimes thought about abandoning it. I never did, though. The protagonist was very likeable (err, no) which made me like the book better, since reading about such an arrogant asshole as a protagonist was a somehow new experience for me. But if I talk about plot holes, I didn't imply weird scenes with characters hiding in a privy while their antagonists, yeah, take a minute to.empty themselves on it. The writing style was enough to deserve three stars, but not clearly remembering the ending only three months after my read should say enough - that three stars are definitely enough for this book.
