It's not an outstanding biography bookwise, but it is about an outstanding man.

Jovanovic takes a chronological approach to George Michaels life, by titeling the various phases with catchwords like "Grief" or "Survival". In my opinion the book could have been longer, by taking many more different perspectives of George Michael, rather than putting together what he said in public and analyzing it. Especially the relationships to other artists fell far to short for me. There is no mention of Boy George, very little about Freddie Mercury and Queen, two sentences about Princess Diana and the occasional Elton John. Neither of them are given a quote about George Michael, except for some tributes at the end. I think in you search through Wikipedia and some press releases and interviews, you can gather the information in this book yourself, but it has its purposes in providing a fairly complete picture of Michaels life. And that is the person who makes this book worth reading. George Michael is unmatched in terms of his vocal- and songwriting skills, has much deeper and intensive Songs than one might think and is unfairly jugded as "the guy who did last christmas". He was a generational talent, who struggled deeply with finding and accepting his personality.
