I did enjoy the series so far, even though some "plot twists" were so predictable I could see them from Book 1, which might be due to the constant POV switches. I just wish the authors would work on their pacing and on the writing. It's sometimes really repetitive and I skipped most of the (imo sometimes really unnecessary) smut scenes because I had to cringe so hard. This is obviously a completely subjective opinion, I just enjoy less well written scenes that are sprinkled thorough the story! While I enjoyed most of the story, I think less POV switches would keep everything more interesting. This goes hand in hand with the seemingly oblivious MC who gives tons of curs but can't string them together herself for chapters on end. The corruption of certain characters made things a lot more interesting and I think it worked well with the story so far, however, it sometimes seemed a bit flat and could have been fleshed out more. Those are just my first thoughts after finishing, will probs add more in the upcoming days (or not, we'll see haha) EDIT 1: One thing that irked me were typos and spacing / layout commentary that was written out (e.g. "Add spacing here"). I bought the book directly from Harper Collins, so I don't know if it's the same for all copies. This and aforementioned writing / pacing issues irk me to no end, which is why I only rated it with 3 stars. I believe this might be due to Indie publishing? Correct me if I'm wrong, though. :) I hope the pacing / grammar / spelling issues will be resolved in future books. It just felt like the whole publishing process was a bit rushed, so some parts of proof reading got a bit neglected. Don't get me wrong, I was also AWAITING this book and so excited to get me filthy little goblin-hands on it, BUT I would always prefer to wait 1-2 more months if it meant improved quality. Obviously I enjoyed most of the story and I'm still really keen on seeing where this goes, so I'm excited to see more of the authors!
Zum Ende hin richtig spannend!
Plotmäßig und was die Entwicklung von Charakteren hat mich der 3. Band echt am meisten mitgerissen. Ja, wir haben wieder sehr viele naive Momente der Figuren. Ja, manche Fragen, deren Antworten man als Leser*in schon vor die Nase gehalten bekommt, stellen die Figuren sich als wären sie unergründlich. Ja, es liest sich manchmal wie eine Parodie von acotar und co. Macht es trotzdem weiterhin einfach irgendwie Spaß? ... ja 😄 Nachdem ich nun die ersten drei Bände relativ hintereinander weglesen konnte, muss ich jetzt leider auf Band 4 warten. Ich bin super gespannt auf die Fortsetzung.
Too good. Even though the plot twists are predictable they didn't downgrade the reading experience. I was in the world. The daughter of the Queen is not invincible, the Queen is not some God but only a good Fae. Seemed realistic yet fantasy.
