I knew the whole story because I've already watched the movie... but even so, I cried my eyes out. This is one of my all-time favourite Story's. Both book and movie. It's beautiful and sad. The writing is amazing. It's definitely a highlight, and I would recommend it to everyone. But just know... You will cry.
Poe, mein liebster zweiter Gordon Ramsay 😂
All the bright places 2. The Fault in our stars 3.
Sehr emotional
"Lighten up, Stella. It's just life. It'll be over before we know it." I finished "Five Feet Apart" yesterday in the morning, before leaving for work and boy, did I make a mistake... I think I saw the movie trailer at some point in January and it already made me tear up since I'm a serial crier. (I have no regrets). After watching the trailer, I thought the movie was based on a book but after doing my research I found there was an unusual concept at play? First, the movie was made and then the book came out (sometime in November, if I'm not mistaken). I don't know if this is really dumb or really smart or if it matters at all - usually, the book comes out and then (years and years later) it's made into a movie (if the book community gets lucky enough) and we get to imagine what the characters alook like. With "Five Feet Apart", I did imagine Will looking like Jughead from Riverdale at all times. That's probably just a side effect when a producer, casting supervisor or who knows what else picks Cole Sprouse as the male protagonist: I just couldn't get his cute face out of my mind while reading Will's chapters or about him. But let's get to the book: Stella and Will are in a hospital when they meet each other, both suffering from the terminal illness cystic fibrosis (short: CF). But that's where their similarities end. Stella likes to be in control and does everything to get better, for her family's sake. Will on the other hand, can't wait to turn eighteen to finally be able to make his own decisions. Those do not include extended hospital stays. Instead, he wants to see the world. Despite of their different mindsets, these two become friends and maybe even more until everything turns into a serious mess. What I thought about the book: As soon as I saw the movie trailer, I really did want to read the book first, I just like it better that way: Book first, movie second. I learned a lot about CF while reading "Five Feet Apart" and also, the characters really grew on me: Stella, the good girl, who is very controlling and organized - you'll understand why she wants to extend her life as much as possible. You'll also understand why Will wants to live life to the fullest while he can. And the best part is, how they make each other understand their points of views and how they learn from each other, what a change they both go through. The last pages made me bawl my eyes out... and despite being very emotional about the ending, it still left me hopeful.
Never cried so much in my life
“This disease is a fucking prison. “
If not for the stupid behavior of teenagers i'd say this is a fantastic story.
A love story of two terminally ill CF patient teenagers that wait for the ultimate failure of their lungs. The only hope, a lung transplant. They are allowed to come as close as 6 feet any closer and their unique strands of sickness could kill each other. But how can you love on a 6 feet budget? With all this in mind you can already imagine what kids would do, when blinded by love and that is exactly why this isnt a flat 5 star review. Go read it!
😢😍 oh mein Gott.
