Tropes: – professor x student – college romance – age gap – online dating – fast–paced – spicy
I‘m glad I waited until I started the second book of the series, before reviewing this one – because the beginning showed me what I feel like the first book is missing. The chemistry. I usually do love teacher x student story’s (I know that‘s not everyone‘s thing, and some do particularly dislike this trope, I do love it though), but this one didn‘t click. And that‘s a first (and hopefully last) with Q.B. Tyler’s books, because each book until this one has had me on my toes and electrified my nerves. ‘First Semester‘ is okay–ish in my opinion. It’s quite a quick and spicy read. The logical part of my brain knows there isn‘t something I particularly disliked, I‘m still disappointed though. Skyler and Aiden just aren‘t my kind of people, and the story doesn‘t hook me, and I don‘t like how throughout the book her Italian heritage is constantly mentioned – she is always the ‘Italian girl‘ like that‘s her personality, and I feel like that‘s kind of odd. 3/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
