Fans of Cassandra Clare and Julie Kagawa will devour this contemporary fantasy about a teen were-dragon who must steal her first treasure. But a dark discovery during her heist could put her family in incredible danger. In Sky Hawkins's family, leading your first heist is a major milestone--even more so than learning to talk, walk, or do long division. It's a chance to gain power and acceptance within your family, and within society. But stealing your first treasure can be complicated, especially when you're a wyvern--a human capable of turning into a dragon. Embarking on a life of crime is never easy, and Sky discovers secrets about her mother, who recently went missing, the real reason her boyfriend broke up with her, and a valuable jewel that could restore her family's wealth and rank in their community. With a handpicked crew by her side, Sky knows she has everything she needs to complete her first heist, and get her boyfriend and mother back in the process. But then she uncovers a dark truth about were-dragon society--a truth more valuable and dangerous than gold or jewels could ever be.

Yes, this is certainly a book that satisfies my whole taste like a good wine would anyone else. A heist stories with dragons? Amazing! The story is about 16-year-old Sky who is also a descendant of dragons. It is common in her family to lead your first heist to mark the transition into becoming an adult. That is why Sky is accustomed to criminal activities. However, previous to the beginning of the story her family has lost her social standing as a result of her mother being caught and disappearing without a trace. To get back into her community's good graces, mend her family's problems, reestablish the relationships to her friends and maybe even her ex-boyfriend, Sky starts planning her own risky heist and uncovers a very unsettling secret. I am completely in awe! Sky is a hilarious narrator and had my attention from the first page. Although she is a wyvern and can even breathe a little fire the story is set in our modern world (that is also informed of the existence of dragons). It all creates an intriguing atmosphere. I loved the dynamics between Sky and her family and her new friend Gabriela. Even though I'm usually annoyed by cliched teenage love, the meetings between Sky and her ex-boyfriend were genuine and (despite the longing and regret on both sides) very easy to read and feel with. There was no overbearing and unnecessary drama. The only small criticism I could think of is this: The small team of main characters always breaks into the same vault. I would have found it interesting to see them work in different circumstances. On the other hand, it would have stretched the story too far to introduce a completely new setting. I like the book just the way it is. I am really glad I was able to read this. It fulfills all my wishes for a good book! I will recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Six of Crows and dragons!
