Nette Story, aber mir fehlte die Atmosphäre und der erwartete Cosyfaktor war für mich auch nicht vorhanden. Außerdem würde ich mit den Charakteren nicht warm. Aber für mal.kurz nebenbei ganz nett.
A calm palate cleanser, but nothing more.
I am a big fan of the tranquil and realistic storytelling of most Japanese books, but somehow Days at the Morisaki Bookshop was missing something for me. The story of Takako, a twenty-something woman living in Tokyo, who strikes camp and moves into the spare room in her eccentric uncles bookshop after she looses her boyfriend and job seems relatable enough. Unmoored by her setbacks, she drifts through the days by sleeping, that is until she stumbles upon a book that piques her interest and she starts reading. Soon after she regains her footing and begins anew, but despite the story, the book did carry a hopeless vibe at times. I enjoyed most of the characters and the little stories of the neighborhood, but somehow I couldn’t really connect with Takako. As an avid reader, living in a bookshop would be my dream, but the magic of the setting didn’t really play a role in the book. Days at the Morisaki Bookshop felt like an entertaining intermission, yet I’ll probably won’t pick up the sequel.

Obwohl "Days at the Morisaki Bookshop" eine kurze Geschichte ist, war ich voll drin! Im ersten Teil geht es um die junge Takako, die verlassen wurde. Ihr Leben wird zunehmend trist, bis ihr Onkel sie um Unterstützung in seinem Buchladen bittet. Zunächst ist sie verwundert, das Verhältnis zu ihm ist nicht sonderlich eng. Dennoch lässt sie sich darauf ein. Nach einiger Zeit wandelt sich ihr Leben wieder in die richtige Richtung. Im zweiten Teil wird die Geschichte ihres Onkels und ihrer Tante näher beleuchtet. Mir hat das Buch richtig gut gefallen, es kam eine richtige Wohlfühlatmosphäre auf. Es gab einige twist & turns.😉 Das Englisch war einfach zu lesen und leicht verständlich. Da ich mich selbst gerne überprüfe, habe ich parallel die deutsche Übersetzung gelesen. Was soll ich sagen? Es kam kaum Stimmung auf und einiges wurde nicht korrekt übersetzt, was mich wirklich ärgerte.😒

Such a good read! You really get to dive in and have to laugh and also a little heart pain… all in all an amazing book for people who love books and especially second hand books 🙂↕️

Ein tolles kurzes Buch welches mein Herz erwärmt hat.
Süßes kurzes Buch über ein Mädchen und wie sie im Buchladen ihres Onkels zurück ins Leben findet. Kann man aufjedenfall lesen um runterzukommen und ein bisschen abzuschalten.
