Day 21 (100)

Der zweite Band der „Die 100“-Reihe wirkt ein bisschen wie ein Übergangsroman. Im Vergleich zum ersten Band ist dieses Buch viel ruhiger und passiert eigentlich nur in Glass' Perspektive etwas wirklich Dramatisches. Die erneuten Enthüllungen an sich waren wirklich interessant, allerdings war es enttäuschend, dass eine ganz besonders ernüchternde Enthüllung am Ende einfach unter den Tisch gekehrt wird, obwohl es erst als Hindernis gesehen wurde. Auch schade fand ich, dass Wells ein paar Zusammenhänge erkannt hat, die dann auch erstmal völlig unter den Tisch fallen, obwohl es eigentlich drängend wäre. Die Liebesgeschichten wurden hier leider wirklich auf den Gipfel getrieben. Es geht einfach viel zu schnell, obwohl es sich zumindest zwischen Bellamy und Clarke ursprünglich sogar ganz gut entwickelt hatte. Jetzt, wo kein Dritter im Weg steht, scheinen sie allerdings alle Hemmungen über Bord zu werfen. Und auch die andere kleine Liaison, die sich hier entwickelt, war zwar an und für sich nett eingefädelt, kann aber nicht überzeugen und wirkt irgendwie nur gekünstelt. Quasi um der Handlung willen. Zudem muss man sagen, dass dadurch wieder viel Platz für vorantreibende Handlung vergeudet wird. Die Gedanken der Charaktere und ihre Handlungsweise sind aber so weit nachvollziehbar. Trotzdem schwächelt der zweite Band leider mit seiner ruhigen Art. Serienfans dürften diesen Band besonders kritisch betrachten, da Buch und Serie hier kaum zu vergleichen sind und das Buch neben der Serie gleich noch ereignisloser wirken mag. Fazit: „Die 100 – Tag 21“ führt die Geschichte um die hundert Jugendlichen mit neuen Geheimnissen weiter, mangelt dabei aber an Spannung und lässt aufregende Handlung vermissen, die nur in Maßen geboten wird. There isn't really that much happening in the books but I am definitely enjoying the topic of the book. I always loved to imagine how the earth would be like hundreds of years after humandkind was gone. So these are the right books for me, even though the world building could have been a bit stronger for my taste. I really like the different perspectives and that almost every chapter is ending with a little cliffhanger, that makes you want to continue reading. I guess Glass was my favourite perspective, strangely as it is the one which is still set in space but I also liked Clarke's point of view as well. Wells was ok but not my favourite. Bellamy is a bit too unsteady for me as his character seems to change all the time. The romance in this book is too shallow for my taste, they can hardly touch me. I am glad the third book is out so I can continue the series right away.

Es sind einige tolle Stellen dabei, aber gegen Ende wurde das Buch etwas langweilig. Besonders wenn man die Erdlinge aus dem Buch und Serie miteinander vergleicht. Trotzdem war ich schnell damit durch und werde mir auch den letzten Teil auf Deutsch holen.

Da ich den ersten Band innerhalb eines Tages verschlungen hatte und ich natürlich wissen wollte, wie es weitergeht, konnte ich nicht lange warten. Im ersten Band war inhaltlich finde ich nicht soo viel passiert, das holte die Autorin aber im zweiten Buch wieder auf. Die 100 haben schmerzlich herausgefunden, dass sie auf der Erde nicht allein sind. Gerade Wells hat in dieser Hinsicht eine äußerst interessante Begegnung, die ich gerne verfolgt habe. Clarke und Bellamy machen sich auf die Suche nach Octavia, die verschwunden ist. Dann werden auf einmal Leute aus dem Camp krank und zwar drei Wochen nach der Landung. Clarke hat Angst, dass die Folgen der Strahlung sich erst jetzt zeigen. Außerdem macht sie einige interessante Entdeckungen, die mich sehr gespannt auf Band drei gemacht haben. Wie schon im ersten Buch, habe ich nicht so gerne aus Glass’ Perspektive gelesen, was aber daran lag, dass es mich nicht so sehr interessiert hat, was auf der Ark so vor sich geht. Ich muss sagen, dass die Autorin es sich auch hier mit ihren Konflikten wieder ziemlich leicht gemacht hat. Es kommt zwar definitiv Spannung auf, aber die Konflikte hätten für die Protagonisten auch ein bisschen schwieriger zu lösen sein können. So ist manchmal alles ein bisschen Friede-Freude-Eierkuchen. Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich die Geschichte sehr gerne gelesen. Ich muss aber sagen, dass das wahrscheinlich daran liegt, dass ich die Serie liebe und vor allem Bellarke… Mir ist trotzdem bewusst, dass das keine literarische Meisterleistung ist. Das Ende war ziemlich krass (zumindest was Glass angeht) und ich wollte wieder sofort weiterlesen. Fazit: Wenn ich das Buch objektiv betrachten würde und die Serie nicht kennen und lieben würde, hätte mir das Buch wahrscheinlich nicht so gut gefallen. Doch genau das ist der Fall und auch wenn ich mir der Schwächen, die die Geschichte ab und zu hat, bewusst war, habe ich sie doch sehr gerne gelesen. Eine Empfehlung kann ich von daher nur für Fans der ersten Buchs oder von Bellarke aussprechen (denn ich glaube, nicht mal jeder, der die Serie liebt, würde die Bücher mögen, sie sind ja schon ziemlich anders).

This one was so much better than the first. It still has flaws (rushing things is definitely the biggest flaw) but now I can't wait to read the third (I'm surprised myself)

This is the second book I couldn't finish - and this case it makes me really sad, because I did enjoy the first part of it. And I still think that Kass Morgan's writing style is very catchy and very, very well done. Before I start I have to say that I started watching the TV series before I read the books. However, I knew that the books would be different and I was fine with it (I think TV Clarke is still cooler ;)). I am still fine with it. So... What exactly is my problem then? Let's take a look (I explained it like this to my father and he instantly figured out what I wanted to say): A group (Group B) of different people settle on a land that doesn't belong to them. They have no connection at all to this country as they weren't born there, they never been there until their landing. We have, however, a group (Group A) of people already living there. Fighting against dangers and being familiar with this land. It's their HOME. Group B then behaves like they own this country. They are very clever and technically advanced and think themselves better educated than everyone else. So they start behaving like ruthless, heartless, stupid idiots jumping to conclusions and filled with the thought that they are better and that THEY and only THEY deserve to live in this country. Group A is, obviously, not quite happy with that. They fight back, defending their home. Group B, who deems themselves way more intelligent and educated, can't see this, because - hello?!? We've never been here, but we like it here so it's ours now, hush you! Yeah. Hello settlers. It's you again. The story of how America was settled by strangers who behaved like the arrogant, selfish, stupid people they are. So - I hope some of you get what I want to say. It is NOT a criticsm towards Kass Morgan - I still think she's a brilliant writer, but I just can't read a story where everything in me screams: That's not fair! Why are you doing this? That's... just not fair. And mind you: this is my biggest criticsm towards the TV series, but in my opinion they solved it a bit better - making it more an act of self defense by the 100 and not just a blind attack out of the feeling of righteousness.

Wow, what a book! I liked it so much better than The 100...probably because I finally could stop comparing the book with the TV show and fully enjoy the book. Which was great. AND SO TWISTED. I couldn't see so many things coming, it was plain awesomeness. I even started to like Wells - who became so much more likeable and less stalker-like. The other characters were awesome as well. I gave Day 21 only 4 stars because I had the feeling that the characters forgave way too easily. Which in my opinion seems to be a bit to fast-paced, but okay. Can't wait to read book 3 :)

This went from zero to hero! All the bellarke-feels! The writing got so much better! I actually like book!Wells much better than TV!Wells and the side-characters too. I don't really understand why they decided against Glass+Luke and Sasha in the series but am mighty glad that we got Lincoln instead, bc: The plot twists are pretty nice, they should've kept that in the series. But since I'm reading this just to fangirl over my ship, I can't review this objectively ;)
