I just breezed through this book and I loved it!I loved the characters, especially Crier and also Queen Junn who totally should have a spin-off bc she's very very interesting!! The world building was very well done, I especially loved how Varela described the difference even within Automae society. And the romance is great, loved the whole part of the dance and the story Crier tells Ayla, also the first kiss was fire!! I just wished it was a lot longer, like 800 pages to flesh all of the characters more, especially Ayla. I would have loved more flashbacks into her childhood, as well as more flashbacks about Siena and Leo. The political scheming was really good, though it would have also benefited if the book was longer, like in game of thrones where the scheming is so intriguing, which would also help flesh out both Hesod and Kinok.Sidenote: I wanted to slap Hesod for treating Crier like a baby! Like she's your heir, why do you treat her like this???All in all: I loved it, just wanted to read even more bc the prose is amazing and it would have been even more of a slow burn romance which I'm a complete sucker for.
Considered DNFing multiple times, sadly I didn't. Sometimes people died and I didn't even remember who they were, that's how little memorable they were. No one had any character. The world didn't make any sense. The plot was hard to follow and kinda random. I mainly picked this book up for the sapphic relationship and it was basically non-existent, there was so little chemistry I actually rooted for the male best friend which never happens. So yeah, no part two for me. Oh yeah, nothing gets resolved in the end, so it feels kinda pointless having finished it at all.
Why did i wait so long??
