happy to say this still holds up 10 years after its release
I finished this a few days ago, but never had the time to actually review it on Goodreads. I never thought I'd enjoy this as much as I did. Yes, it was very predictable, and yes, there are common YA tropes in there, but they were so nicely packaged that I didn't even care about it. I read it, and just wanted to keep reading and keep reading because it was addicting. Even after reading the first chapter I knew: This is going to be one of my new favorites. Even after reading only the first half I went on Amazon and immediately ordered the rest of the series. And Prince Kai ... oh how long has it been since I really loved a male main character? I loved this! Now onto everything else Marissa Meyer has ever written!
3.5
I reeeeally enjoyed this book! It is exciting, sad, surprising and something different!
Really nice!
As all of my Goodreads-Friends are deeply in love with this book, I decided to give it a try. Reading the descrpition, I was sure that I'd love the book cause I really liked the whole idea. Now that I finished the book, it turns out that apparently I don't like the genre. For me, the book was just super-predictable [Cinder is from Lunar? You don't say!! Cinder is princess Selene? I'm so surprised!!]. There was no real plottwist and for me, there is nothing worse than a predictable book (*Cough* The fault in our stars *cough*). I also figured that I don't like the whole setting with androids, hovers and all this futuristic stuff. I literally had to take a few days without reading because I was so annoyed by this book. On a positive note, I really liked the writing-style and prince Kai as well as Iko. But ... that's about it. I really don't know if I'm going to read the second book anytime soon, even though I heard that it's better than Cinder.
THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD. I EXPECTED THE PLOT TWIST BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER. HOLY SHIT I DON'T HAVE ANY WORDS TO DESCRIBE MY LOVE FOR THIS BOOK. I LOVE THE FAIRYTAIL "CINDERELLA" IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE. AND CINDERELLA + CYBORG DYSTOPIA = PERFECT.
I LOVED IT I FREAKING LOVED IT. I FLEW THREW THE WHOLE BOOK AND I WAS SO ENGROSSED THAT I ATE ALMOST ALL MY FINGERS, not that I didn't know what will happen, I was kind of like oh yeah I am sure that will happen but the way the story was told was amazing that it kept me inside of it and not just that as soon as i kept down the book to eat or sleep I was just talking about what the story is about, how fantastic the cover is, how amazing the world is. My judgment might be clouded because I have heard everything good about it from the beginning and i was so freaking excited to read it, to hold it in my hands that I almost cried when the mailman delivered the book to me and trust me I keep admiring the book cover (It doesn't come that easily to a graphic designer, trust me). I wanted to savor it so much that i stretched reading it for 2 days i could have finished it in one sitting for sure. Amazing retelling of Cinderella, Disney should have made a live action of this book instead. One more thing- lko I am sure you looked great in that pearl necklace :*
Nice book🤍
I would say it was a slow start, strong finish book✨️📚 I never read sci-fi until now and I must say that I kinda like it😊 it ends in a big cliffhanger and I'm glad I already bought the whole series📚📚📚... I really recommend this book although I have to say that in my opinion, it's not much based on cinderella but that's totally fine🫶🏻 great for sci-fi beginners!
