Beschreibung

Rainbow Rowell's #1 New York Times bestseller Carry On, now available in this special bookshelf edition with a brand new case stamp and designed endpapers!

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen.

That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right.

Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here--it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.

Fantasy & Romance at its best

Great magical trilogy with interesting world building and loveable characters

Simon Snow grows up as an orphan until one day the mage, headmaster of Watford, a school for magic, finds him and tells him he is a magician himself, but not just any magician. There are prophecies about him, saying he is the chosen one to help the magical world against the humdrum, a mysterious enemy who literally lets magic vanish. I know it kinda sounds like Harry Potter in some aspects (it is clearly meant as a parody in a way) but I swear the direction it's headed is different and it's very much a story of its own! Also the story begins at Simons last year at the school, so all characters are 18. The other main characters are Penny, Agatha and Baz. Penny is Simons best friend and a really likeable character. Agatha is Simons girlfriend but it's already clear at the beginning that their relationship isn't the best and Baz is Simons roommate and rival/enemy but their feelings are much more complicated 👀💕 It's also kind of a spinoff from the book Fangirl, where someone writes a fanfiction and that is this book (well another version). I enjoyed it a lot. The characters are great (Baz is my fav), the story is interesting and I didn't expect that ending. Also just another kind of magical world was so great to see. The way they use spells (they are normal words, mostly sayings or lyrics, because they become more powerful if more people say them) and the variety of magical creatures. Vampires also play a bigger role btw. The only thing I would critique is the beginning of the story. It was a bit hard to get into it at first cause there needs to be a lot of explaining because we start at Simons last year, but other than that it's really great and a big recommendation from me 💙

My rating: 4.5/5 I have to say, when i first read Carry on, I had extremly high expectations and i wasn't disappointed. Carry On is an easy fast-paced read. I read the book in one sitting and I adored every single page. I already was introduced into the world of Simon Snow because I read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell before. It wasn't one of my all-time favorites but it was one of my favorites in 2015. I absolutely loved that it isn't a typical girl boy relationship and the many different points of view, we had during the book. The best thing for me was the solution of every thing. I won't go into detail because i don't want to spoil you, but it was so logical in the end. I loved that. OMG THIS IS SUCH A GOOD BOOK!! ADDING IT TO MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME!! *___* Everything was amazing: the story, the world building and of course the characters!

Well. As you can see, it took me quite a long time to read this book and I've got to admit, that i read a few other books in that time. For me, the book is too Harry-Potter-ish until it finally comes to a kiss. Even though, the story about the Humdrum and the Mage wasn't quite interesting. The story about Baz and Simon was interesting after the kiss. Of course I loved the story about the two boys finally getting that they've got feelings for each other and to fight for it! I love Penny and I love, how Rainbow Rowell manages to describe the characters. 4 stars for the story of Simon and Baz, -1 star for the Harry-Potter-ish Watford story. (Of course, it's depending on me to compare Watford to Hogwarts, because there are many differences.)

This book is wordy and because of that goes to 500 pages. It's too long! More importantly, nothing interesting happens in the first chapter.

So, This happened - I send out my book out on a tour for more people to read and happens that my cousin read it :) The review is live on my blog - http://storypals.net/carryonreview/ Please do check :D ------------------------- Rainbow Rowell writes a book and I don't like it? NOPE. NOT POSSIBLE. It's a joy ride to read her books, always so easy, always so fun and always a delight. In a fantasy book like this, with so much happening she managed to bring in small moments, small joyful moments in. I was smiling, laughing, gasping and oh also there was this nervousness. ANG OH MY GOD HOW MUCH I AM IN LOVE WITH BAZ. I don't even care if he will never love me back, I am just very happy to be in this one-sided relationship. I love it<3 I have taken away one star because the first part was kind of eh for me until a certain character is introduced and oh my god how the story picks up from there is just great. It's just getting better and better and then you just want it to not end. Also for me reading the story from different POVs was a plus point but was also kind of annoying sometimes, it was just annoying and the book lost me a couple of times, I had to re-read a lot of it just because of this. BUT. I LOVED IT ANY WHICH WAY and also I think the whole starting part was draggy because of only one book and a lot to be talked about, the world to be built, each and every character's story to be spoken about. Hmph! It was just a great ride. Just so good.

This book definitely is a new addition to the list of my all time favorite books. It made it on top of that list in no time. I don't even quite know where to start. But what I do know is that Rainbow Rowell proofed again that she is one of the most awesome authors out there - she made me fall in love with her writing style all over again. There is no way to deny it: Rainbow Rowell is a goddess when it comes to writing books, especially lovestories. I adored every little piece of the book. It is funny, cute and clever with a really good plot and such a fun world to live in. I'm obsessed with this book, with the whole story, with Simon and Baz and oh my gosh, I have the worst book hangover ever since The Mortal Instruments. As soon as I finished it I flipped the pages back to the beginning of the book and started rereading some of my favorite parts and ended up rereading A LOT of chapters. When I woke up the day after I actutally wanted to start with a new book but what I did instead was reread my favorite parts again. But I will try to put my thoughts in order now ... I have to admit the beginning of the book was a little slow. I've read Fangirl and was totally dragged into the world of Simon Snow and Baz right away, so as I started the book I was waiting on Baz to show up but it didn't happen for quite a while which I thought was sad. So as soon as Baz makes his official first appearance the book gets SO SO good. And I mean really really good. I just love Baz so much. He not only made it on top of the list of my favorite fictional characters ever, I also added him to the list of my fictional boyfriends, which seems to get longer and longer whenever I pick up another Rainbow Rowell book. What are you doing to me Rainbow Rowell? You're killing me with the awesomeness of all your books. But anyhow, of course I liked all the other characters as well. I loved Simon and Penny, I didn't like Agatha that much but whatever. The characters we're brilliant and I just wish I could be their friends, like real life friends because they are just so awesome. I was really impressed by the world she created. I was amazed by it. It was all so well-thought-out. The spells were so silly and clever and funny I couldn't help myself but burst out laughing so many times. [watch out, there might be some teeny-weeny spoilers coming up in the next paragraph] Okay so as soon as Baz showed up I couldn't stop fangirling. I was giggling and squealing sooo freaking hard in the scenes they had together. Reading the first part of the book I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough time to let the love between those two grow, but I was wrong. I was absolutely wrong. THERE IS SO MUCH KISSING I can't even. Oh my god, my boyfriend thought I was crazy when he saw me dancing around in our living room, pressing the book to my chest and squealing like a five year old. I reread those scenes so many times I can't even count it anymore. Rainbow Rowell is so talented when it comes to romantic scenes. I love how their relationship developed, even tho the book is only like 522 pages long. I just felt like I knew them for such a long time already. It just all felt so familiar. I just love them together. I love the way they love each other, I love their love. I adore it even. I was fangirling so hard I had tears in my eyes; I just felt like I was the luckiest and happiest girl on earth while reading this book. Not to mention that awesome ending. It was kinda sad actutally but it was so cute; the cutest ending you could choose for a book. Carry On was one of my most anticipated books in 2015 and oh my gosh I can't believe it's over already. I wouldn't mind Rainbow Rowell writing a sequel. Not at all. REALLY, I WOULD NOT MIND AT ALL. If you haven't bought the book yet, go. Go hit the next book store or order it online. It's not even a possibilty to not have this book on your shelf. And if you own it already and haven't read it yet: what are you waiting for? Drop everything you're doing right now and read that book. Go. Now. You're welcome!
