Beschreibung

New York Times bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer pens a new emotionally compelling story about two teens struggling in the space between right and wrong.

When his dad is caught embezzling funds from half the town, Rob goes from popular lacrosse player to social pariah. Even worse, his father’s failed suicide attempt leaves Rob and his mother responsible for his care.

Everyone thinks of Maegan as a typical overachiever, but she has a secret of her own after the pressure got to her last year. And when her sister comes home from college pregnant, keeping it from her parents might be more than she can handle.

When Rob and Maegan are paired together for a calculus project, they’re both reluctant to let anyone through the walls they’ve built. But when Maegan learns of Rob’s plan to fix the damage caused by his father, it could ruin more than their fragile new friendship . . .

In her compulsively readable storytelling, Brigid Kemmerer pens another captivating, heartfelt novel that asks the question: Is it okay to do something wrong for the right reasons?

So I was really debating giving this a 4 stars, but since the last 100 pages fell flat for me I am settling on 3 stars. I thought the topic of the book was really important and it some brought the "moral questions" into picture. I feel like Brigid Kemmerer just has a way of depicting serious topics that doesn't feel as suffocating but rather gives you the opportunity to think about them. I also totally adore her writing style. I really want to read all of her works because I am so enthralled by her writing every time I pick up her books. I mean I read this real fast and I did enjoy it, but because it was built so well I wasn't totally satisfied with the conclusion I guess. I personally just prefer the conflicts to be resolved and then get another 50 pages of the life after the conflict and just fluff. But that's just me. I would still recommend anyone to check this book out. And 3 stars doesn't mean I didn't like it. I totally did. But as said before I just expected a little more after it started out so well.
