Don’t know why I stopped reading it 50 pages till the end but I finally finished it and omg wtf happened. But again Maggie just created the most obscure characters and story’s that are so unexpected that I could never guess the ending

A story about the Lynch brothers

I don't even know where to start. I was really excited about this trilogy since Ronan is my favorite character from The Raven Cycle, and this is mainly about him and his brothers, but it was a bit disappointing. More at the beginning, though. I thought it would be a crazy dream adventure, not knowing what is real and what not. But there wasn't even that much dreaming (more at the end, which was really nice). I also wasn't confused. I don't know why I so often see reviews (also about TRC) saying it's confusing. Like, what exactly? 😅 I always go out of these books, liking a lot in theory but finding it lacking in practice, in the actual text. Everything about the dreaming I love. The concept is great. My imagination is wild with ideas. I just think there could be so much more done with it, and maybe it will be. I am still hopeful for the next two books. Otherwise, the story had me bored a lot in the beginning, or more like not interested, not engaged. I generally like multiple POV, but it depends on how it's done. Here, it's not in first person, but we switch between different (groups of) people. Most of the time, after just one or two chapters. So if a chapter about one person ends super exciting and you want to know what happens to them next, well, you have to fight through a chapter about somebody else first 🙃 We have around 4 POV groups. Ronan and everything around him, Declan (sometimes in combination with Ronan or Matthew), Hennessey and/or Jordan, and the Moderators, namely Farooq-Lane and Parsifal. I didn't care for the Moderators. Besides being "the bad guys," killing all the dreamers, I was just kinda bored by their chapters and annoyed at the characters, well, mainly Farooq-Lane. I know she is a victim of the circumstances, and I can see her character changing, but I still didn't like her (especially after the old Zed incident. Could totally understand Parsifal). Most of the book was just really slow. I guess that's just the style of the author. It took a long time until the different characters even met, and that was the point at which it finally got interesting for me. I still love Ronan, and Hennessey and Jordan are interesting new characters. I am also interested in finally finding out more about Bryde. (slight spoilers in this paragraph I guess) Also, one point I wanted to comment on was the Romance aspect, which wasn't a lot, and that's fine. I just saw many reviews exclusively talking about Adam and Ronan, and I just don't get the hype. They met like twice 😅 I am happy for them, but I could never get that excited about their relationship because they got together off page (still mad about that) and the story is just not centered on it. As I said, that's fine. It's just not the style of the story. As a lover of love stories, I am, of course, a bit sad about it and would like to have more romantic scenes, but it is what it is. I was actually more interested in another relationship, possibly forming there 👀 Okey, I guess this review is already long enough xD All in all, I wasn't feeling it until around the middle of the book, but, of course, I want to continue (just maybe not now, I need something more exciting inbetween 😅)

I'm currently in a big fat reading slump and just wasn't in the mood for this book. It isn't bad, but also it isn't as good as trc. Maybe I will pick it up later, because I'm sad that I wasn't able to finish it!

Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage, was es bedeutet, in der Welt der Raven Boys ein Träumer zu sein

Die Raven-Boys-Reihe wurde mir oft als „keine Handlung, nur Vibes“ beschrieben, aber nachdem ich für „Wie der Falke fliegt“ in diese Welt zurückgekehrt bin, glaube ich, dass das falsch ist. Diese Bücher haben stattdessen tausend kleine Handlungsstränge. „Wie der Falke fliegt“ folgt drei Hauptfigurengruppen: Die Brüder Lynch. Ronan, der Träumer, der nach einem Weg sucht, mit dieser Fähigkeit zu leben und die Träume nach dem Tod des Träumers am Leben zu erhalten. Matthew, der Traum, der noch nicht weiß, dass Ronan ihn geträumt hat, und der deshalb den Bezug zur Realität verliert. Declan, der Älteste, der seine eigenen Wünsche und Sehnsüchte aufgibt, um seine Brüder zu schützen und das, was sie sind, geheim zu halten. Jordan Hennessy. Hennessy und Jordan. Ein zweigeteiltes (oder zwölfgeteiltes) Mädchen. Hennessy kann nicht träumen, ohne eine Kopie von sich selbst zurückzubringen, und sie hat es wirklich satt. Wenn sie stirbt, werden auch ihre Klone für immer einschlafen, also versucht sie, einen Weg zu finden, sich selbst zu retten, um sie zu retten. Jordan ist das älteste Exemplar und obwohl Träume nicht träumen können, träumt sie von einem Leben unabhängig von Hennessy, in dem sie als zwei Mädchen leben können, anstatt als eines. Carmen Farooq-Lane und die Visionäre und Moderatoren. Carmens Bruder war ein Träumer und ein Mörder, und seit sie geholfen hat, ihn zu vernichten, versucht sie, den Moderatoren, einer Organisation, die es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, alle Träumer zu töten, zu beweisen, dass sie nicht in seine Verbrechen verwickelt war. Dies tut sie, indem sie mit einem jungen Visionär reist und sich um ihn kümmert, einem Jungen, der Visionen hat, die ihn zu Träumern, anderen Visionären und dem Ende der Welt führen - die ihn aber auch töten werden. Sie kämpft damit, die Verbrechen ihres Bruders mit den Verbrechen der Moderatoren in Einklang zu bringen. Der Anfang war für meinen Geschmack etwas zu langsam, und mein Interesse galt vor allem Ronan und seinen Brüdern, denn das sind die Figuren, die man aus der Raven-Boys-Reihe kennt und liebt. Dennoch haben mich Jordan und Hennessy fasziniert, sobald ihre Situation klar wurde, aber ich hatte viel länger Mühe, mich für Carmens Sichtweise zu interessieren, abgesehen davon, dass sie an eine Gefahr für Ronan und Hennessy erinnert, derer sie sich nicht bewusst sind. Sobald sich die Handlungsstränge der Figuren auch nur vage zu überschneiden begannen, war es jedoch sehr leicht zu lesen. Am Ende der Raven-Boys-Reihe gab es noch so viel darüber zu erforschen und zu lernen, was es bedeutet, in dieser Welt ein Träumer zu sein, und was es bedeutet, eine Person zu sein, die von einem von ihnen erträumt wurde, und es war faszinierend, sich damit zu beschäftigen. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, diese Serie fortzusetzen, und ich hoffe verzweifelt auf ein Happy End für alle Beteiligten.

Ich habe mich sehr gefreut mehr über Ronan zu lesen da er einer meiner Lieblingscharaktere aus einer meiner Lieblingsreihen ist. Dennoch war ich auch etwas unsicher ob mir diese Reihe genauso gut gefallen wird weshalb es etwas länger gedauert hat bis ich tatsächlich zu dem Buch gegriffen habe. Glücklicherweise wurde ich aber nicht enttäuscht. Nicht nur bleibt Ronan eine super interessante Figur auch die restlichen Charaktere konnten mich überzeugen. Besonders spannend fand ich das Declan hier deutlich mehr Tiefe bekommt. Doch auch die neuen Figuren, besonders Jordan Hennessy und Carmen Farooq-Lane, waeen super interessant. Die Geschicht dreht sich um die Dreamer und deren Welt wird auch deutlich erweitert und es kommen neue Elemente hinzu welche die Geschichte durchgehend spannend halten. Ich bin jedenfalls froh, dass ich direkt zum 2. Teil greifen kann. 4.5*

"Dreams are not the safest thing to build a life on." Bin aktuell nicht dazu in der Lage, anständige Rezensionen zu schreiben, muss meiner Begeisterung trotzdem Luft machen: Der Raven Cycle ist ohne Frage großartig. Atmosphärisch sehr dicht, der mysteriöse Brainfuck sehr speziell und typisch Maggie Stiefvater. Stellenweise kränkeln die vier Bände aber an einigen Längen. Call down the Hawk bietet nicht nur ein ganz wunderbares Wiedersehen mit den Lynch Brüdern und herzerwärmende Cameo Auftritte der anderen Raven Boys, sondern in erster Linie verdammt viel Action! Und eine neue kick-ass Protagonistin, die wie Ronan eine Träumerin ist. "The opposite of magical is not ordinary. The opposite of magical is mankind. The world is a neon sign; it says HUMANITY but everything is burnt out except MAN." Der Schreibstil ist so stark von diesen typischen Stiefvater-Wortspielen geprägt - ich habe zum allerersten(!) Mal mit Textmarkern in einem Buch Sätze angestrichen, weil sie einfach so verdammt kunstvoll sind! Liebe alles an diesem Buch

This is probably the biggest disappointment in a very long time. I loved The Raven Cycle and was so looking forward to Ronan's spinoff series. But I did not care a single bit about this story and these new characters introduced. The book actually started out rather well and I especially really enjoyed the writing but as the book went on, it just didn't go anywhere. This story just kept going on and on and on and NOTHING happened. At some point, I wasn't able to tell anymore whether something of importance just happened or it was just another dream/passage of flowery writing. I didn't even bother finishing the last 50 pages since I have zero interest in reading the sequels. Picking up this book may have gotten me in the mood to sleep myself, but this was a complete miss.

I can't breathe. I need the other two books right now. The last time I felt this was after finishing A Court of Mist and Fury. I simply love Ronan. I love all the characters. This book is just perfect.

The dream magic and how it works is just peak fantasy design to me: For the reader there's enough explanation to kinda get the concept, but not enough to be truly sure of anything. You know, just like it's for the dreamers in the story.
