Fortunately, we are exposed to less interaction between Mac and Barrons in this book. The worldbuilding is still interesting and we meet some promising NPCs, but for a book this long, nothing of much impact happens. It's just random events, hunting for McGuffins to find the big bad McGuffin, Mac is still stupid and exactly like any other urban fantasy heroine, despite several reviews promising me she wouldn't be (but don't worry, she'll ramble on about how much she's grown and how tough she's now endlessly in her inner monologue - she just won't show it in her actions), the male characters are still annoyingly lewd in the stupidest of situations and Barrons is still abusive, despite serveral reviews promising me they wouldn't be.Mac and Barrons still annoyingly do not communicate information for the simple reason to put more pages in this book. Also, how tf are the Shide-Seers hiding in that abbey when there are 700 of them in this one place? That's, like, half the population of Ireland!

I liked the second book better than the first one. Though there were again enough open space to fill with more action, the plot was more interesting and thrilling than the "Darkfever". I like Monings writing still but I also would like if there were more action in the books, she sometimes stretches some parts and then its get boring. Hope it becomes better with the third book and that we'll finally find out who or what Barrons is. Handlung: Auch im zweiten Teil ist Mac noch immer auf der Suche nach dem Mörder ihrer Schwester Aline und kommt damit kein Stückchen weiter, weil sie sich nun auch anderen Dingen stellen muss. Zu einem muss sie heraus finden wer sie wirklich ist, was es mit den Sidhe- Seers auf sich hat und ob sie ein Teil von ihnen ist. Noch hinzu kommt, dass Jericho Barrons sie nach wie vor als OOP Detektor verwendet und dies einige Zeit beansprucht, auf seiner wilden Jagd nach dem mysteriösen, zu tiefst bösen Buch, dem ‚Sinsar Dubh‘. Meine Gedanken: Mir hat das zweite Buch nun noch besser gefallen, als der erste Teil. Obwohl es noch immer genügend offenen Raum gegeben hätte um mehr Action rein zu bringen, war der Plot dieses Mal noch interessanter und spannender. Ich habe es vielleicht schon erwähnt, aber obwohl Moning Schreibstil ein wenig herb und eine spur vulgär klingt, ist er flüssig zu lesen und packt einem einfach und reißt einen mit – besonders wenn man auch die Absicht hat mal etwas ‚härteres‘ zu lesen. :) Außerdem kann man feststellen, dass der Hauptcharakter Mac langsam an Tiefe und Erfahrung und Charakterstärke hinzu gewinnt und wie sie sich verändert. Besonders gefällt mir die Spannung zwischen Barrons und Mac und ich bin mir sicher da erwartet uns noch einiges aufregendes. Cover: Gefällt mir und ist mit dem ‘ganz in Rot’ gehalten, auch edel gestaltet. Fazit: Eine Steigerung zum Vorgänger und ich habe das Gefühl es wird noch besser.
