An inspiring and entertaining testament to the power of friendship, from the hosts of the hit podcast Call Your Girlfriend

'Deeply compelling' ROXANE GAY

A New York Times bestseller

A close friendship is one of the most important relationships a human life can contain. But most people don't talk about what it takes to stay close for the long haul.

Now two friends, Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman, tell the story of their messy and life-affirming Big Friendship in this honest and hilarious book. Through interviews with friends and experts, they also come to understand that their struggles are not unique.

This book is a call to value your friendships in all of their complexity, to actively choose them and sometimes, fight for them.

'A deeply funny and immensely heartfelt look into what makes a friendship last despite time, distance, trials and major life changes' ELLE

tbh i expected something else from this book and not a personal story about aminatou's and ann's friendship (i didn't know the authors or their podcast before) BUT i really loved how they talked about their friendship and also about feminism, racism, classism, capitalism and how everything is connected & how their friendship evolved over the years and all the ups and downs they had

"Staying connected with a close friend boils down to three main things: rituals, assurances, and openness" p. 181 On point!! You couldn't describe it more appropriately. I'm a little disappointed that it is mostly about Aminatou's and Ann's own story. According to the title, I thought it was more about general friendship. But their story nevertheless helped me to understand the construct of friendship better. A few days after I finished this book me and my best friend will go for a wellness vacation - like Aminatou and Ann did at the beginning of their book. But before we will start our trip, I will give her a really big hug. I'm glad to have you. I know you read this ;-) <3
