This is exactly what I expected from Taylor Jenkins Reid: a beautifully written, complex novella set in a challenging world where our main characters have to fight for what they stand for and believe in. We were thrown into action right away which I really liked and then proceeded to jump between the past and present timeline. While I liked getting to know the characters and their relationships in the past timeline, I was much more interested in the present which was only a small portion of the book and was also the driving force that kept me tethered to the story. I would've appreciate a glossary of sorts because the author talks with so much confidence of all the technical terms and I - a human with no knowledge whatsoever about space and space shuttles, etc. - had to look up every five pages a word I didn't understand. I can appreciate the amount of knowledge and hard work TJR put into this story combined with her poetic writing but I think maybe she forgot that not everyone is as well-versed as she is with all the unfamiliar terms. There were certain characters - Barbara, Jimmy - which I would've loved to slap across the face and others I really liked such as Vanessa, Griff, Joan, Hank, Donna.. I also loved how the author didn't only focus on the amazing love story, but also about the sibling relationship, the connection Joan and Frances had and the found family aspect within Group 9. Overall a very intriguing story that will keep you on the edge off your seat and have you hooked from page one but for me it was partly also exhausting to consume so much and I feel like my head is going to explode with all the knowledge I learnt from this book
