I really love the pictures in this book. The little story’s about the characters are really interesting.

Was soll ich sagen? Das Buch ist wirklich schön gestaltet. In "An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld" werden die wichtigsten Charaktere des Schattenjäger-Universums aufgelistet.

This time I'll make a list of things I liked and disliked about this book. LIKES: - the art was really nice. I loved the style - It was interesting to read some new details about the characters, instead of the typical vita DISLIKES: - in my opinion the pictures are in the book, so readers can see how Clare imagines her characters. But some of the character's main features are hidden as the character turns away etc. Here the flower seems more important than the character. - Some of the descriptions were copied (Clary --> Jace, Meliorn --> Seelie Queen). This made me think that Clare did not have enough ideas for one of her main characters and a character who's thousands of years old... - The title. Is it really a history, if one only presents characters and tells a few details about them? - As Clare wrote so many books about folklore, she should be able to do good research. But the description to Amatis disproved this. In this description Clare writes about "Baba Agnieszka" which name she shortens with "Baba". This is wrong. "Baba" means in Polish "woman". "Baba Jaga" is the typical Polish witch. Some witches in fairy tales are also called "Baba Jaga". "Agnieszka" is like "Jaga" a first name. Therefore it makes no sense to call this character only "Baba". A short translation of the words would show Clare the same. My dislike list is longer than my like list. Therefore I struggled with the decision to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I decided to give it 3 stars as the book as a whole was nice and contained some interesting details.
