Beschreibung

Her name is Greer Galloway, and she serves at the pleasure of the president of the United States.

The sharp-eyed granddaughter of a former vice president, Greer is well-versed in politics and people-but not romance. Not when she is warned to keep her kisses to herself. Except her first kiss goes to the man who will one day lead the country, war hero Maxen Ashley "Ash" Colchester, and her second goes to his best friend and future vice president, Embry Moore. When the three collide in the Oval Office many years later, the unsaid words between them leave Greer breathless and burning.

It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts when Ash asks Embry to find the girl they both lost, and it ends with Greer's heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires...and ends with three people bound together with a ruthless, all-encompassing love sharper than any barbed wire.

This is the story of an American Queen.

I just finished this book and I wouldn't have if I hadn't read it in a Book Club. 1 Star Review - Spoilers Ahead After not even 50 pages I was thinking about breaking off this book. Why? Because the FMC character Greer who just turned 16 that day met our MC Ash. He was 26, asked her if she was 18 and when she said no, he kissed her nonetheless. Why did he even ask if he doesn't care at all? We have Ash and Greer who feel deeply in love after sharing one kiss on a party when she is a minor and are still in love 10 years later, after he already married somebody else (who died) and she had sex with his best friend who she also fell deeply in love after meeting him for the first time and spending the night with him. Instalove at its finest. They didn't know each other at all, all of them are falling in love with each other after one kiss. And that was not even the worst because Ash didn't just make out with a 16 year old teenager and fantasized about her for 10 years even though he got married in between (poor Jenny) and got off on E-Mails she sent while she was still a minor. Then there was also the incest thing. He didn't know at first but later he did and still chose to do stuff with his halfsister. That was a big NOPE for me and the second time I was thinking about breaking off. And how he acted towards Embry and Greer was another thing because this man was the worst. He enjoyed the power too much he had over people and I disliked everything about him. Then we had Greer, our Female lead character. She was described as somebody who could read a room and was very smart but in general she was childish. Her best friend and cousin hated her and she didn't even see it. She made stupid decisions and I just wanted to shake her but she and Ash kinda deserved each other. Because both were so damn perfect. Embry was the third Main Character and he was great. I really liked his character. Too good to be part of Ash's games or be involved in anything at all. He deserved more than that. Most parts of the story were pretty obvious, especially towards the end. And everything around the problems of the three main characters being in love with each other looked like fillers to give the story a little bit of extra because we have the President and the Vice President and the granddaughter of a former Vice President. It wasn't written badly, I just had problems with most of the story itself. The writing style was good because she described the characters and places and the smut wasn't bad. I just had a problem when it came to the spicy parts that he imagined all of this stuff when she was 16/17(!!!!!) and that made me feel uncomfortable and I didn't even enjoy the smutty parts. The cover is pretty though.
