No one can know about the curse in her bloodline. No one can know that she’s lost her magic. No one can know the truth about the boy who holds the missing half of her soul.

To save herself and Visidia, Amora embarks on a desperate quest for a mythical artifact that could fix everything―but it comes at a terrible cost. As she tries to balance her loyalty to her people, her crew, and the desires of her heart, Amora will soon discover that the power to rule might destroy her.

“There are many I have lost, but I do not allow myself to become lost with them. They wouldn’t want us to pause our lives because their time is up. Grieve, but do not lose yourself to your mourning.” Ok tell me why it had to be Ferrick? Ugh

Dnf after about 20% and lightily skipped through the rest of the book to get a general sense of the plot. I gotta say, this book was just a massive disappointment for me. After finishing all the stars and teeth, which i already found to be mediocre at best, i was really hoping for the second book to be better. But boy oh boy was i wrong. To start off, the first few chapters just felt like a massive recap of book one instead of an actual plot setup, which i thought to be extremely annoying. Maybe it's because i read both books back to back and didn't need the recap but it all just felt very repetetive and unnecessary. I didn't need a reminder who every single character was, i didn't need a reminder of how the magic system works and i certainly didn't need a reminder of how her father died on every. single. page. I absolutely hated Amora in this book, she just came of as incredibly annoying, her motivations for all of her actions seemed flimsy and nonsensical to me and any and all character development she got in the first book was just thrown out the window. All her actions seemed selfish and self serving, even under the guise of "I'm doing this for the better of Visidia", she doesn't trust her friends, she doesn't confide in them, she lies to them, urges them to lie for her, and in general just treats them like shit. I can't really say much about the plot, not much happened in those 20% i read, but from skipping through the book it seemed pretty unimaginative and tbh unnecessary. I did read the ending in full and have to say i am extremely glad I didn't waste my time with actually reading the book because the ending was shit. It seemed to me like the entire purpose of this book was for Amora to find a way to break her multiple curses only for someone else to do it for her in the end. And by someone who honestly didn't seem to have any stakes in this other than being friends with Amora no less. The way he departed was incredibly dissatisfying, especially given that imo he was the only likable character alongside Bastian, and the fact that no one even remembers him or the sacrifice he made just rubs salt into the wound. Overall i would advice to save yourself the time and energy and just treat All the Stars and Teeth as a standalone.
