Who is Alice and what is her dark secret?
A quick but sadly predictable read. It's one of my niece's favourite books but in the end I was just a bit disappointed. I won't tell her as she left me a really sweet note in the book about how much she hopes I enjoy it. Love you Niamh, but not this book. This thriller, if you may call it that is really slow paced. Maybe too slow paced for me. The most shocking part (and probably also what is supposed to sell the book) is how easily the characters cross all boundaries in a Mrs Robinson kinda way. Everybody in this book seems completely sex driven and looking for inappropriate relationships. There wasn't a single character in the book I really cared about. Not even Harry, who is supposed to be the good guy that you follow along while finding out the truth about his fathers death and what his sexy stepmother Alice had to do with it all... I enjoyed the alternating plot lines of "then" and "now" as I usually do and the very last pages when you already thought the book is over and why does it not just end. There is more to come...
