Beschreibung

A pitch-perfect holiday rom com about two oil-and-water reality-star country singers who must fake a relationship in order to win the opportunity of a lifetime, perfect for fans of Sally Thorne's The Hating Game and Christina Lauren's In a Holidaze.

Will they hit the right notes this holiday season?

When Sadie and Max are selected as contestants on the famed reality singing show Starmaker, each thinks they’ve finally gotten their big Nashville break. But then they’re paired up for duet week and stun the world with their romantic onstage chemistry. With fans going wild for #Saxie the network demands that they remain a duo on and offstage, or exit the competition. Faking a relationship until their final performance in the Starmaker holiday special shouldn't be too hard, except for one small problem—Sadie and Max can’t stand each other.

But with their dreams just within reach, they agree to the ruse. Will their fake relationship be exposed before they can win? Or might their phony connection turn real by the Christmas finale?

Solide 3 Sterne. Typische RomCom mit enemies to lovers.

I gave this 3 stars but the rating might also be like 2,5 stars. The only positive things I have to say is that 1. there was an attempt and 2. the dual pov.If you spend some time on bookstagram or booktok you probably know that there are certain tropes in the book community, "miscommunication" being one of them. However, to call this miscommunication between Sadie and Max would be a stretch. It's rather no communication. At all.Throughout those 350+ pages I have failed to see any chemistry between the leads and quite frankly, how would one manage to build up any chemistry if the people in question barely spend any time together? And if they do, they fight without any reason. I think the most disappointing part for me as a reader is that their relationship was build on and driven by based on this "amazing on-stage chemistry" they apparently have. But barely anything was taken onto the time off-stage. Every time Sadie and Max are in a room it takes them exactly two sentences into the conversation just for one of them to ruin the moment. It was either Sadie saying something completely off topic or Max flipping his mood and just shuts off. One of them gets annoyed and mad with the other, the other one leaves dramatically and angry the room and that's it. Everything else regarding their feelings was basically handled in monologues. Imagine having this type of back and forth over the course of the whole book.I'm just not sure how I was supposed to root for them as a couple.Everything regarding Cruz' storyline was very predictable, but that didn't bothered me. I would have loved more storyline with Sadie's Gran. She seemed like a real gem!The behaviour of Sadie's mom on the other hand was just a "?" for me. Following her daughter around and then creepily deliver the letter from her Gran. Idk with this one. I did like the way some of the people were talking. It gave off what I assume is a Nashville vibe. I also liked the setting of a competition show rather than some small town romance or whatever.I feel like this book had good concepts and attempt but almost all of it was not executed well enough. Or well at all. I tried to like but at the end of the day, this book just wasn't for me.
