The initial situation of this plot is promising: Three women exposed to various challenges in their lives, in different cities, where obstacles and violence are imposed by society. They all grow up in dysfunctional families spanning over a period from the 80´s to present times, and they’re running away from their miseries in hope for better lives. Great topic to read, right? Why 3 stars then? Well, the narrative felt hacked off to me, i.e. the individual stories were not well intertwined with parallels drawn in a linguistically seamless way and the author uses many gap fillers in her narration. With so many sensitive issues, I felt that the plot had a bigger potential that was not completely unlocked. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC. All opinions are mine.
