I've been okay-ish with book one, so I thought why not, give book 2 a shot. First things first: I'm native German speaker / reader, and the title of the very first chapter got me so irritated already that I had to check if that was a mistake or not... Sadly... It wasn't... So every time I read that guys name I cringed internally. I got distracted every so often by the questions: Why would you call someone "wolves" (yes, plural) just in another language, when the name doesn't suit the purpose? Why plural?! Whereas book one picked up the magic and the mixture of realms pretty nicely, the second book was a pure letdown. Magic: for me, the power in the heroine is way overboard. Yes, she handled the healing of the Prince and some sort of demon magic linger within her, but she straight up seems inclined to be the "bearer over death and life" - pretty thick, when it's just a little strand of leftover magic from a "minor" shadowdrifter... Also, the Prince just "accepted" his shadowdrifter side and suddenly all is good and well with him and he can actually wield the power just like that... Whereas earlier it's said that one has to be properly trained to become one with their shadowdrifter side. Lacks a lot of logic for me here. Realms: The heroine seemed to have lost complete interest in her previous life (including her family and job, on which she clinged to so dearly in part one). One even forgets that she actually HAD a life before, since all she's doing is getting raped by her lover, falling in love with the rapist, and being pushed around by ignorant asshole tardheads. At 75% of the book the plot finally happened and the story got an upturn which leaves me with a mixture of "do I really wanna read book 3, or do I just drop it?" The writing is okay, it's flowing and pretty easy to read. There are many mistakes, which could have been erased by an edit round.
