Nothing in here is any sort of normal. She's so nuts it made me dizzy. I love Auri but it was hard being in her head. Since there's no context as to what happened to her, it's difficult to understand her mind. How much is the real way of things and magic and how much is utter nonsense? The writing is as beautiful as ever. I still enjoyed it.
German Review on GosuReviews Only for real hardcore fans. Ridiculous to demand 14-18 Euro for the ebook/hc. Not worth for me at all. The prose was usually good as you expect from Rothfuss, but the plot, if you can call it that, is very lackluster. It would have been really better off in an anthology as originally planed. I wouldn't be surprised if this will damage Rothfuss's reputation.
4,5 was a beautiful but strange story loved it . perfect ending of my reading year
Well, this book is quite interesting: It is by far not what you expect and hope for and still has its own pretty point of view inside of the universe. The whole plot centers around Auri, one of the stranger figures of the main story and you basically just follow her around the Underthing for most of a week with her own unique set of problems like finding proper ways of doing stuff and of course the survival-based things. At the end there are some interesting facts like she knows of alchemy and of the broader stuff students learn in the uni and she said she has found her own way and own names for all of the things. When you keep in mind that the main theme is names of things give you power of it that makes me curious what she really can do. Besides of the main story it is funny how often Patrick says sorry for this book, never wanted to release it in the first place and said it should have been kept in his attic. Overall I am still happy that he released this book, haven't ever read anything like that.
