Beschreibung

Yuval Noah Harari returns in August 2018 with a new book, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century. In bringing his focus to the here and now, Harari will help us to grapple with a world that is increasingly hard to comprehend, encouraging us to focus our minds on the essential questions we should be asking ourselves today. Employing his trademark entertaining and lucid style, Harari will examine some of the world’s most urgent issues, including terrorism, fake news and immigration, as well as turning to more individual concerns, from resilience and humility to meditation.

You. Should. Read. This. Book! No seriously, read it! If you are remotely interested in our future and its main challenges - read it. If you are a society shaper in any way (politician, teacher, start-up owner, biologist, you name it) - READ IT. This should be mandatory for every single person in a position of power. Majors, MPs, Presidents, but also the richest 1%. And for all those other 99% of us, we should be wanting to read this even more!!!!! I borrowed my copy from my dad but I will definitely ask him if I can keep it because I will want to read this again in the future!

Overall a disappointment. I really enjoyed Hararis other books, but this little thing just cramed 21 very serious topics into one book. It offers hardly any insights, calling it "lessons" just bends the bar. Terrorism, Religion, Equality, Immigration, Fake news etc,: each of this topics can't be thrown into the room without context and background for discussion. Also, I didn't appreciate the dominating Russia bashing. What I took from the book is that Harari likes to meditate and meditation is the key to see reality for what it is. Not what I expected and paid for. Not what Yival Harari usually delivers.

Got an appetite for more after Homo Deus, and it’s more of the same. Definitely totally great. If you want to know what you are, where you come from and where you go, this is a well written all explaining philosophical resource for you. Wished that everybody read these two books. Definitely highly recommended.
