Even though YA books aren't my favorites, especially when it's first person narrative, I enjoy them from time to time and Sanderson delivered a great story. The obligatory great world and great magic system phrase for Sanderson book fits here as well. He just gets it every time right. The pacing is excellent and you get from one suspense-packed situation to the next. It was the first book of Brandon I read where he used the first person PoV, but he pulled it off great. Everything depends for this style to work on the voice of your main character, if he doesn't appeal to you, the whole series will be ruined. That's what happened for the Dresden Files for me. The only negative thing that came to mind was the use of the new invented curse words, like "Sparks!" ... why not use some shit or fuck?
